Results and forecast

July was an ok month with one downswing halfway through but a result that was ok. The final 14 days were non moving, being up or down $150 at maximum. I ended the month with an alltime high again, which is good, obviously. However I always want more. Below you will find the graph of my No Limit Cash games.

So I played about 41K hands, which is allright. The winrate could be a bit higher though. This exludes the omaha hands I played.

In tournaments I performed rather poorly. I do not think I made a profit. However, from now on I am keeping track of results, which will show a nice tournament graph at the end of August.

Lets see if I can break through the 10K bankroll barrier in August. Obviously i would like to perform well in some tournaments and qualify for Pokerstar's WCOOP. On Titan there is a competition in which one can win a Porche. Three rounds with the first two rounds consisting of a series of tournaments. I will probably easily qualify for round 2, since I won one tournament and final-tabled another and am currently 3rd in the standings with 30 to qualify.

Good luck in August!

Something different

The last week was a stand still. The biggest move was $117 up and three times my daily total was within $5 plus or minus, which is absurd, considering I played 2K hands. Yesterday I started playing at a new site, which started of pretty well. Deposit limit of $500 and in the end I had $580, while having been up to $700 already by just playing 50NL. So that's something different, which I did after cashing out from Mansion, the site that stopped it's daily 100K tournament.

I have also been experimenting with Pot Limit Omaha. A lot of players at the lower limits just suck at PLO. I think it is a great alternative for No Limit Hold'em. First of all the swings are somewhat bigger, as are the pots.

A lot of players limp in or pay the raise to see the flop with rubbish hands. Even a flop percentage of 45 is about average for 6 max. Obviously the nuts on the flop is not very often the nuts on the river. Which is fun. It makes the game more dynamic and challenging. I have been playing about 1000 hands at Stars, which were ok. Resulting in +$100. There is only one good regular I saw at Stars: twosevoff.

So I intend to play some more PLO over the next few weeks and may read a book or two on the topic, to see if I like it. In a few days my end of the month update.

While I was surfing

While surfing the net looking for some pokerrelated stuff, I came across some interesting links. Someone on the fullcontactpoker forum has written a great post on playtracking, spreadsheets, software, calculators, convertors etc. It is the best overview I have seen so far. Here is the link to the post.

In that post there is a great excel spreadsheet that can be used to track cash and tournament results. Pokertracker covers the hand analysis, but I find a spreadsheet much more convenient for bankroll tracking. I already use a spreadsheet to register my end of day results. This one is great for MTT's and Sit and Go's. Here's the link.

On Nederpoker they launched a pilot video of how their video's are going to look like. I scrolled through the video and did not think to much of it. Lot of folding. Hope others will be better. For those that do not know, Nederpoker is launched by some Dutch pokerpro's and it is intending to become somewhat like Cardrunners. If you would like the video check out their site.

I have also installed some scripts for Pokerstars, which make play easier. Auto-rebuy for example. All available through www.autohotkey.com. Through overcards pokerscripts are accessable.

I am still looking for some buttons on Stars that can be implemented, like a bet pot button. I know it is out there, just have not found it yet. If you do, please let me know.

The score

I have not been playing to much lately, because my Grandma died last week. Sometimes other business is more important than poker...

I am still up a a bit this month. This is probably going to be my best month ever, which is good. I have been taking a few shots at 200NL again, which were ok. 2,5 buyins up in 600 hands is allright.

Yesterday was quite frustrating, while 8-tabeling 100NL at Titan. Two tables I was up to over 300BB, but the fish kept sucking out at other tables. Shorties pushing with overcards and underpairs hitting trips and runner-runners all-over. So in the end I ended the day with only $80 up. Nicest was with aces. 100BB raises 6BB MP, I reraise BTN $20, he calls. I push the low flop and he calls with a set of sixes. I can not possibly see how that is a good move to play a low pocket pair for 1/5 of your stack.

I played about 2000 hands yesterday. I flopped quads twice and turned quads another time. The odds for flopping quads are 1 in 407 times, when you have a pocket pair and obivously see the flop. You hit a pocket pair roughly every 16 hands. So once every 6500 hands you flop quads, provided you see the flop each time you are dealt a pocket pair. So say once every 10.000 hands you flop qauds. Which means, statistically, no quads for some time. They are rarely paid of anyway.

I did have 86s :)

Just some hands I played today, which I found interesting.

Suited Gap Connector
First a hand with 86s against someone who happens to read my blog. He claimed to lay down QKo. Lol. Stack are quite deep so I can easily call here with 86s from the BB. i did not have a really good read on him (only 26 hands) but he appeared kind of weak. Promissed I would post the hand :). Did not tell batje what I had though.

Calling a raise with AKo is something I tend to do a bit more often. I reraise AKo about twice as much as I call a preflop raiser.

The ace is a scarecard, because of a possible flush draw. However, it is an instacall. First, I have to pay $28 for a $73 pot. So I get 2.7:1. I guess he is on a draw. I check the river so he can make his bet or check behind. Both would be fine. I win far more than 2.7:1 in this situation. Must be a French fish.

Swingy times

Previous weekend I was up almost $850 and during the week I lost $800. After which I managed to win $1500 again. Swingy times, to say the least.

I started 8-tabeling on Titan and Stars, where I used to play 6 tables. It seems to work out fine.

I was planning on posting a bad beat story last week, but just thought it was useless. There were some sick hands and this is how I felt: All-in-all just sick that almost every all-in I was at least a 70/30 favorite and ending up loosing every single one of them. Shorties are just annoying pains in the ass. French shorties, well, that’s beyond words. They have a small stack. They keep minraising and pushing, which makes normal play impossible. They suck out all the time. They hit and run all the time.

I am really looking forward to the time when Pokersites raise the minimum buyin at tables from 20% of the big maximum to about 80%. So much for the frustration. Did I tilt? No, I still think I played all these hands as I should have.

Back to the video I uploaded. I did not receive a lot of questions on it. However, there were some helpful tips. I seem to check to fast when having missed the flop, which is probably true. I really discovered a big leak in my game that I am trying to fix. It was also mentioned in one of the comments. I will not go into further detail, but the video sure pointed me to some possible leaks, which always helps. On the other hand I do realize my play is good enough to consistently beat 50NL and 100NL. Only a matter of time before 200NL is up for grabs.

As for my overall game, I think it is ok. I finished 3 tournaments in the money and winning one small tournament at Titan. I finished 30-ish (out of 3000) in the Pokerstars 20K freeroll. Finished 40th out of 1000 in an $11 tournament and won a $5,50 tournament at Titan.

I withdrew my money from Pokertime (did I tell you the site sucks?!), and deposited on Mansion, to play the Mansion daily 100K tournament. The site is pretty crappy and traffic is very low. At peak times there are about 15 cashtables (all limits combined) in use. There is only one tournament, which is the 100K gtd. However, that tournament has a big daily overlay. When I entered there were 469 entrants, with 1000 needed to break even. I finished 300-something. However, the software is ok. I do not see why there is so little traffic, while sites like Pokertime and Pacific are much worse in all aspects.

I noticed Pokerstars has announced its yearly WCOOP. The world championships of online poker. There are some interesting tournaments I would like to play. Check out the Pokerstars site for the entire schedule. I will miss the first few tournaments because of my holiday. I will be back by the 16th of September. Here is my list for which I will attempt to qualify:
- Event 05. September 16. $530 buyin. NL Hold’em.
- Event 10. September 21. $320 buyin. NL Hold’em Matchplay.
- Event 17. September 26. $320 buyin. NL Hold’em 6-max.
- Event 19. September 28. $530 buyin. PL Omaha.
- Event 20. September 28. $530 buyin. NL Hold’em Triple Shootout.

See you soon!

Video 50NL with PokerTracker

Already had some time to make a video today. It is a 4-table 50NL 6-max video on Pokerstars. I think the session was pretty good. One beat, but I ended the video with a decent profit. I have not watched it completely, but if you have any questions do not hesitate to comment.

I used Pokertracker in combination with Gametime+ and elaborated a bit on how to use those. A bit of an abrupt end, because the doorbell rang. The video takes about an hour.

Happy viewing. Here is the link.

If there are a lot of questions on a specific hand, I will post it in a next update.

Status update and some hands

While the WSOP main event has begun I am still playing on the net. Man did, I want to be there. Good thing next year I can be the first to win a bracelet, unless some Dutchman wins the main event. Check out pokernews.nl for updates. Furthermore I saw a "Well" topic by Marc Naalden on Pokerinfo.nl, which is pretty good. Furthermore, you should check out Nederpoker.nl. I believe they will start some cardrunner type of video's.

Besides that I have started some cooperation with panicnl. He found a software programme with which you can see another person's desktop. Together with speech you can evaluate some hands. Quite cool and we have to see if it works. Furthermore I hope to tape a video this week.

The start of the month has been so, so. I had 4 loosing days, which were limited to maximum two buyins. Today I won 6 buyins...

Alright some hands. A fun one to start of with:

So, June sucked. I was down 2K half way through the month and ended down $200, which was allright. My loss came from playing 200NL, where I had a really bad run. It seems to continue, where shorties seem to be sucking out all the time. Yesterday someone pushed for 50BB, when he limped UTG and I raised. I called with KK and he showed A5o?!!!?! Obviously the flop then comes AAx. Kind of bad.

However, I am not bothered that much by all the beats at 50NL and 100NL as I was with them at 200NL. A lot of fish are just plain stupid and simply donating a lot of money. The (more then) occasional beat is part of the game.

It is funny when I join a table with someone who reads my blog. Maztijn2 at Titan yesterday... These people/you the reader obviously have some information most other players don't. Nonetheless it is fun when I sit at the table with one of this blog's readers.

As for goals I did not meet a lot of them in June. I will not bother going through them. Unfortunately I only retained one bonus: the Pokerstars Gold Status. I can start buying some gadgets there as well, since I have accumulated almost 20K FPP. I was down one VIP level at Titan. I hope to make a comeback this month. Started 8-tabeling yesterday at that site. I have to buy a second monitor, because 8-tabeling with overlap is not good. 12-tabeling 100NL should then be possible :).

At Stars I am slowly growing towards 3K. I am playing some small buyin tournaments there. This Sunday there will be a 100K event, with a $11 buyin. That is pretty sick.

That is it for now. See you at the tables.
